Joe Harmon Splinter
I stumbled accross this a couple of weeks ago, and was rather impressed. The entire Joe Harman Supercar - Splinter is built entirely from wood.
From the website, he built a "super car with his buddies as a graduate school project". This thing is pretty unreal for a car manufactured with limited resources on such a small scale. The front may have some weird funky nose going on, but the rear aero pieces (butterfly panels) that sit above the engine bay are absolutely beautiful (compound curvature rocks my world). These panels are made from a woven bamboo fabric that they manufactured with a loom in house. They lay it up in a proccess that could be likened to carbon fibre, but with bamboo 'fibre'. The result of the alternating weave and compound curvature is an incredibly stiff and strong part.
The entire car is finished by being covered in a red cherry veneer which is hand laid over every panel. Definately a good effort. Check out some of the videos on their website, they are worth the watch if you're into this sort of thing. http://www.joeharmondesign.com/index.html
PS. The car sports a substantially modified 600hp (projected) 4.6L, twin supercharged Cadillac V8.
